The Queer and Allied Student Union is a recognized student organization providing support for students identifying as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transexual, transgendered, questioning individuals, friends, families and allies.  We meet every Thursday at 11:20 AM in Rothwell Student Center (RSC) 19 on the University of Wisconsin - Superior campus.

What does the name Queer and Allied Student Union Mean?
  • The use of the word "queer" is to reclaim the language and turn what once was a negative term into our own - a positive label.  This takes away its once negative power.  The word "allied" represents those of us that do not identify as queer but support the gay rights movement.  The "student union" part of the title is self-explanatory.
Do you have to be gay to join, and what is an ally?
  • Absolutely not!  Heterosexual people who support gay rights are an important part of the gay rights movement.  An ally is anyone who identifies as heterosexual but believes that queer individuals should be treated equally.
