The Office of Women’s and Gender Issues is not staffed for 2009-10 and was not staffed for 2008-09.

This website remains a source for archival material related to the status of women initiatives at UW-Superior and within the UW-System.

We work with students, staff, and faculty--along with the broader Duluth-Superior community--to provide research, support, advocacy, and education on women's issues, other gender issues, and sexual identity issues.

We work closely with the Standing Committee on Women and the University of Wisconsin System's Office of the Coordinator of Women's Issues. The following problems and needs have been identified for attention in recent years:

  • Title IX and Gender Equity in Athletics
  • Availability of Campus Day Care
  • Chilly Climate for Women
  • Homophobia
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Domestic Partnership Benefits
  • Hiring & Retention of a Diverse Staff
  • Improving Maternity Leave
  • Campus Physical Safety
  • Safe & Supportive Atmosphere for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Questioning Students & Staff
  • Strengthening Affirmative Action
  • Supportive & Inclusive Classroom and Work Environments

We offer trainings to support Safe Space for Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender, Queer, Questioning, and Intersex students, staff, and faculty. Phone or email with questions or to schedule a training.
