| SPBC Continuing Work on Budget Reductions. Jan Hanson attended for the Provost and provided an update on continuing budget reduction work by SPBC, including the following points: The IT/Library Science position is off the table. Beth George tendered her resignation effective April 12, so there will be no shift in the Advancement Office to 103 funds. For fiscal 2006, there will e a $223,000 administrative reduction, $74,500 procurement reduction, and $149,000 one-time only asset management reduction. Currently, SPBC has met approximately $212,000 for the 2006 reduction. For Fiscal 2007, there will be a $75,000 additional administrative reduction, and under consideration for this reduction is the NCA Coordinator position, IITS Self-study, Dean of Students, and other retirements. SPBC will complete its work very soon and make a final recommendation to the Chancellor with copies to all governance groups. At that point, individuals and groups respond directly to the Chancellor. Motion (Nordgren/Johnson) stating Senate opposes the cut of three faculty administrative assignments form cabinet budget reduction proposal. After discussion, motion was withdrawn. |
