Old Business:
Report of the Process and Communications Committee (Susan Loonsk, Peggy Marciniec, and
Rhoda Robinson): Rhoda Robinson reported that the committee met with Evelyn
Hagfeldt to go over the flow of communications for the Graduate Studies
Office. The committee will meet again to
work on the admissions checklist, student progress record, and admission to
candidacy. They will be looking to get
updates on each department’s field of study/admission to candidacy document.
Report of the Marketing Committee (Tracy Fabian, Wendy Kropid, and Brent Notbohm): Brent reported that the committee will meet this
time next week. Faith recommended that
the committee invite Cherie Boreen. Discussion about marketing on the web also
brought to light the need for written release for use of online photographs.
New Business:
Report of Faith Hensrud:
1) Enrollment. Faith distributed a chart of Graduate FTE
Enrollments from 1996-2006. She also
distributed Fall 2000 to Fall 2006 data by academic
program as prepared by Jim Miller.
Please email Faith if you find errors on these reports. For example, some academic programs (COUN
versus CPP programs) appeared to be missing.
2) Marketing Fact Sheets. The fact sheets will replace the catalog
brochures currently being sent to prospective graduate students. Faith distributed the first fact sheet
developed by Al Miller for the Educational Administration program with very
favorable response from the group. The
first edition is bare bones (without photos) and will be produced on as as-need
basis on a color printer so they can be updated regularly. Faith will
electronically distribute departmental fact sheets for ease in getting
revisions to Al Miller in time for the UMD Graduate Fair. The development of departmental testimonials
should continue.
Recruitment:
Terri and Faith recommend that UW-Superior graduate programs have a presence
(two or more people) at the October Graduate Fair at UMD. Table contents discussion followed. Terri said the Provost was willing to support
us with marketing tools for recruitment fairs.
Several departments, including Graduate Studies, have a logo table
runner. Terri will notify people of the
dates of the fair [later determined to be Tue, Oct 9: 10 am to 2 pm] and will
get sign-up sheets with hours available for staffing our table. Evelyn will make the reservation.
Late Adds: Motion to allow the Graduate Faculty and
Council Chair to approve late enrollments, with instructor approval, for
students registering one week after the posted last day to add a full-term
class. Motion approved by consensus.
MA Studio Art - Expressive Ecopsycholgy:
Susan distributed the
degree requirements for a focus within the MA Studio Art degree
called Expressive Ecopsychology. This does not
require approval other than within the
