| 1. | Discussion of General Faculty Meeting on Retention, Promotion,
and Tenure Issues Committee agreed that Joel Sipress should prepare a report
for Senate the summarizes the issues raised at the General Faculty Meeting.
The report should stress the urgency of the issue, particularly among junior
faculty. Cummings/Sloboda moved to recommend to Senate that promotion to Associate/Tenure should be based upon standards in place at time of hire. Motion PASSED. Committee agreed that the report should recommend that all other issues raised at the meeting be referred to Personnel Council with request that the council bring back a comprehensive set of recommendations on faculty personnel issues. |
| 2. | Committee discussed the issue of whether the grievance function of the personnel council should be reassigned to a separate body. Sipress agreed to contact Greg Trudeau, Personnel Council Chair, to see how many grievances per year the council has been hearing. |
