Resolution Regarding UW Budget

University of Wisconsin-Superior Faculty Senate

Whereas a well educated population is essential to the economic development of the State of Wisconsin; and

 

Whereas UW-Superior is located in a low income area of the state; and

 

Whereas UW-Superior has a disproportionate number of low-income and
first-generation students; and

 

Whereas UW-Superior prides itself in quality teaching and learning;

 

Whereas UW-Superior emphasizes not only quality classroom activities, but also extensive out of class personalized and group experiences to enhance our studentsŐ learning and serve our community and region; and

 

Whereas instructional activities are grossly under funded at UW-Superior and other
UW institutions; therefore

 

Be it resolved that the Faculty Senate of UW-Superior strongly encourages Governor Doyle and the Wisconsin State Legislature to provide sufficient funding to the UW System to insure the maintenance of quality instructional services and access to low income students.
