September Senate Agenda. The proposed make up of the Strategic Planning Core Committee will be placed on the agenda for the September Faculty Senate meeting. Senators will also be asked to decide how to fill the four faculty positions. The Senate Executive Committee recommends that the four faculty positions be elected one each from the Academic Affairs Council, Personnel Council, Planning Budgeting and Review Council, and the Executive Committee. If no one on one of these bodies wishes to serve, the Executive Committee will appoint from the faculty at large.
Senate Priorities for 2002-2003. The Executive Committee will suggest two priorities for the 2002-2003 academic year.
1. Personnel Rules and Procedures. What are the definitions of scholarship, teaching, and service in their application to retention, promotion, tenure, and post-tenure review? How do the processes actually work during complaints and grievances? Need to include the rules for appointment and removal of department chairs in our personnel rules.
2. Curriculum. The proliferation of requirements within the curriculum should be examined.
COMMITTEES: The third and final review of recommendations for committee assignments was completed and approved. They are available at http://frontpage.uwsuper.edu/senate/com0203.htm.
ADJOURNED.
