OPID Teaching Fellow and Teaching Scholar Projects:  Previews and Process

Tim Crow and Suzanne Griffith

If you have any interest in the OPID Teaching Fellow (2-6 years teaching experience) or Teaching Scholar (over 10 years teaching experience) Program, this is your opportunity to hear about these programs from our 2001-2002 UW-Superior Teaching Fellow and Teaching Scholar. The Teaching Scholar program is new this year, and requires a major project of the Teaching Scholar. Come to hear about these programs, the opportunities and responsibilities involved.

The afternoon Chat & Eat will focus on planning for a UW-Superior proposal for an Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Grant (UTLG), so if you want the inside story on Teaching Fellow and Teaching Scholar programs, noon is the time to come!

Chat & Eat:  OPID Opportunities and Follow-up
(Gastronomic delights have been promised for this event...you might not want to miss out!)

Please come to help plan a UW-Superior proposal for an Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Grant
(If you have ideas for this Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Grant that UW-Superior is preparing to submit to UW-System, but can not make it to this planning session, please email your thoughts to ksunwood@uwsuper.edu so that your ideas can be brought to the table) - information about this grant is available at http://www.uwsa.edu/acadaff/utlg/ - current ideas for a proposal from UW-Superior involve: combining a proposal for faculty workshops on including writing in Gen Ed and other courses {including ungraded writing}, discussing the connections among writing, learning and critical thinking; with a proposal for start up support for a First Year Experience seminar for students, incorporating writing as a major curricular tool.

We will meet in the Faculty Development Center at 3:00, but will move down to the Multicultural Center - Old Main 232 if attendance requires larger quarters
