1. Soon we will be having guest speakers from other cultures talking to us about their cultures. The first three speakers will be from China, Russia and Native American cultures. What questions will you ask them? The questions may simply reflect your curiosity about the culture. There could also be questions from the theory we have studied so far. What would those questions be?
2. Review the differences contrasting collectivists and individualists for attributes that you particularly relate to. Describe two episodes or subsets of behavior (for example, meeting a potential new friend) in which some of these collectivist or individualist attributes were evident in your own behavior. What did you do? Was it more characteristic of individualist or collectivist cultures? (166-172)
3. According to Trafimow, Triandis, and Goto (1991) one can become temporarily a collectivist or individualist. Can you remember a time when circumstances led you to make that temporary shift? Please describe the circumstances and the behavior(s). (172-176)
