Stop Violence Against Women Campaign Amnesty International

On 8 March 2004, Amnesty International launched its new two-year global campaign on “Violence Against Women”. The campaign started just about a decade after the 1993 AI campaign “Human Rights are Women’s Right” and the UN General Assembly’s Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women in the same year. The Northland Chapter (Duluth-Superior) Amnesty International group #642 is planning events through April this year in support of the Stop Violence Against Women Campaign. This fall's events are listed below:

Stop Violence Against Women films October 21 - October 28. 7 PM. Norshor Theatre.

October 24 speech by Dr. William Schulz, Executive Director of Amnesty International, "The Power of Change is in Our Hands: Violence Against Women as a Leading Human Rights Scandal of Our Time."

Attend a video or lecture, write a two-page reaction paper, and 5 points will be added to your grade. You may obtain extra credit for more than one of these events.
