| Extra Credit Landmine Awareness Exhibition Rothwell Student Center Sky Lounge Tuesday and Wednesday 9 AM - 7PM November 6 and 7, 2007 |

The exhibition is conducted as part of an
International Campaign to Ban Landmines. The ICBL (International Campaign
to Ban Landmines) is an advocacy coalition composed of over 1400 human
rights, mine clearance, humanitarian, children's, veterans', medical,
development, arms control, religious, environmental, and women's groups
in 90 countries. The ICBL calls for: |

| * | An international ban on the use, production, stockpiling, sale, transfer, or export of antipersonnel landmines; | |
| * | The signing, ratification, implementation, and monitoring of the mine ban treaty; | |
| * | Increased resources for humanitarian demining and mine awareness programs; and, | |
| * | Increased resources for landmine victim rehabilitation and assistance.The purpose of the exhibition is to educate people in community about landmine and ask for understanding and cooperation on community level to ban landmine from all over the world | |
| The exhibition will be held in the ballroom at Rothwell Student Center on UW-Superior campus. There is no cost for this event. The exhibition is open to members of the community. | ||
| The exhibit includes: | ||
| 1. | A mock landmine field | |
| 2. | Replicas of landmines | |
| 3. | A short documentary | |
| 4. | Paintings by children from the Latchkey Day Care in Cloquet, Minnesota | |
| 5. | Resources such as books, videos, and CDs | |
| 6. | A demining center | |
| 7. | Poster gallery | |
| 8. | A section on children and landmines | |
| 9. | Roughly 1/2 hour to complete the exhibition. | |
| Visit the exhibition and write a two-page reaction paper. You will receive 5 points added to your total test scores. | ||
