Volunteers Make a Difference!
1 in 3 women are victims of domestic violence. This could be your sister, friend, neighbor or even you. By volunteering you can help end this tragedy. One person CAN make a difference.
Purpose: In an effort to educate the public on the issues of domestic violence and to enhance the services we provide, Safe Haven Shelter recruits and trains volunteers to work in all program areas.
Positions: Positions are based on the number of hours an individual plans to volunteer. Listed below are the positions available if you plan to be a short term (8 – 20) volunteer. Of course if you decide to continue (and we hope you will) there will be new and exciting opportunities available to you.
v Activity Leader - lead group activities
v Child Care Assistant – assist advocates in child care
v Readers – read to children one-on-one or in a group setting
v Tutors - assist students after school with their homework
v Data Entry – enter data required to track our programs
v Office Assistant – help us keep up with daily office duties
v Canvasser – hang up poster to advertise upcoming events
v Donations Assistant – help with sorting, organizing & inventory

Training: All volunteers are required to attend a basic training course before they can begin volunteering. The tentative dates and times of basic trainings are listed below so that you may plan accordingly. Please check our website for intensive training dates.
