1. What is your reaction to the sections of the video Not For Ourselves Alone? Explain why. Describe the context of story of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Susan B. Anthony. How might that context have influenced the work of Stanton and Anthony. What was the temperance movement really about? Explain.
2. Taking into account both "inputs" and "outputs," explain why the hypothetical Dewey, Hookem, and Howe consulting firm can be engaging in sex discrimination. What do social norms and realities have to do with it? What if the firm is unaware that it is discrimination? (C 43-45)
3. In the Hopkins vs. Price Waterhouse case, Ann Hopkins was expected to do what two incompatible classes of behavior? Hopkins was not mistreated because she was a woman, she was a woman who did what? Explain. (C 46)
4. Faye Crosby ends the chapter on sex discrimination at work by suggesting that sex discrimination will end when boys and men trade one type of advantage for another, broader humane advantage and girls and women will exchange one type of security for another kind of security. What advantage would boys and men be trading for? What security would girls and women be trading for? How do you feel about that? (C 56)
