Invitation to Discuss Peace and Peacebuilding. Students are invited to join in a conversation about peace and peacebuilding at the new UW-Superior Peace Center. Space for this discussion is provided by the Mulitcultural Center (Main 232) and will take place during the noon hour on Tuesday, October 23.
A Campus Peace Center is a gathering place for students to share information, inspiration, ideas, and projects for creating a culture of peace. It is a project of the United Nations NGO committee on spirituality, values, and global concerns. The centers are run by students with support from the United Nations NGO, including a website for the purpose of coordination among the various centers worldwide. The webste may be found at www.compuspeacecenters.net. It will provide opportunities for networking and a place to post projects and a spirit of international community.
Each Peace Center is unique, developed by the students according to the character of their own college or university. Peace centers welcome students involved in different aspects of peace-making, environmentally-oriented activities, to political affairs, the arts, sports and culture.
The purpose of the Campus Peace Center project is to foster the development of a global, interconnected peace movement on college campuses. This Peace Center event is co-sponsored by the International Peace Studies Association and the new Campus Peace Center.
Participation in this event counts toward Social Justice Term Project Hours.
