| The purpose of the writing/discussions is to prepare students for informed small-group discussion. Having your answers to the assignments with you for class discussion serves that purpose. If do not have the assignment with you, there is no need to get the assignment to me that day. Bring it to the next class and turn it in with that day's assignment. |
| Another purpose of the small group discussion is for students to critically evaluate each other's answers to answers to the assignments. Critical evaluation is needed to prepare students for tests. Sometimes the points Wade and Travis make are subtle. Do be sure to read carefully. For example, Question 11 on Assignment 8 asks "Is there a 'gum-chewing center' in the brain? (117). Many of you responded "yes." Read the paragraph on page 117 from "A word of caution" to the end of the paragraph and reconsider your answer. |
