Critical Thinking Exercise:
1. A researcher finds that the mean IQ score of small families is significantly higher than the mean for large families. Offer two possible explanations for this result.
2. A mother "reads" to her unborn fetus and after its birth, challenges her with intellectual and artistic problems. The child appears to have exceptional intellectual gifts. How might you explain the child having such gifts?
3. On your way to school, you hear someone on a talk radio program arguing that the government is wasting money on educational programs because intelligence is inherited and some groups are born smarter than others. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the caller's argument.
